CERNOBIO, A HOME FOR THE ELDERLY

Four non-profit organizations, which already work within Lambro park, have promoted the structural and functional restoration of the Molino San Gregorio farmhouse to transform it into an authentic living space in order to bring back the spirit of community.

There will be social projects dedicated in particular to the elderly and female victims of violence as well as single mothers. Additionally, this farmhouse aims to act as a space that is open to all of the city’s inhabitants, who can enjoy refreshments, take care of certain areas like the social vegetable gardens and participate in cultural activities.

'Cenobio' – a Greek word that translates to 'monastery' in English – is a space within Molino San Gregorio dedicated to elderly people who are autonomous or suffer from low-grade medical conditions and who cannot or do not want to live alone. This space is not meant to be a retirement home, but rather a new residence in which people can live together in peace and share the experiences of this phase of life in a positive way with the 24-hour presence of personnel who are trained to handle any of their needs.
